Looking at the Data

So for the past two weeks I’ve been having reminders set throughout the day. These reminders are to steer me back on track during the day, if I start going off track by being distracted or not feeling motivated, the reminder goes off at it’s time and for me it’s a simple mental check in. Am I in the right headspace? And I feeling like I have accomplished my goals for the day? When that reminder comes up I do the task right than and there to the best of my ability, if I can’t do it right away I’m still brought back on tack with this reminder telling me, “hey you need to do this to succeed”. And it works for me, it brings me back where I need to be to accomplish my goals day by day. And for now I’m feeling better, and stable in my mind. I’m not stressed as much when it comes to my numbers as this keeps me on track. As time goes on however, I’ll be checking on my self and the process to make sure I, and my process is still helping my train smarter.  Numbers  P/U: 19004 S/U:...

Openness

One of my largest struggles this year has been my blogging. It’s not that I forget to blog, it’s just that I don’t do it. I want to blog, but my mind says “don’t do it”. Compared to knowing me in person I’m a pretty open person to talk to. However, once I need to put a blog out, I shelter away.  This is mainly because I’m nervous about my blogs. Are they good, are they going to benefit other members of the team, could this offend my team members. I’ve even had the extreme thought of “what if they judge me for what I put in my blog”. I didn’t have this (I don’t want to call it fear), anxiety about my blogging last year. Maybe it’s because it’s my second attempt at the grading and now I’m more anxious about putting out good blogs. But now that is hurting my progress because I have missed my blogging minimums.  I believe I just need to say “send it” and just put out the blogs that I want to put out. And not try to make blogs that will direct me away from what I actually wan...

Wake Up

I’ve got to get myself back on track. I’m not outputting as much as I need to be. In fact I am behind by quite a bit. I’ve got to push myself hard. And I’ve got to stop procrastinating, it’s practically killing my Kung Fu. I’ve got to stop the mediocrity from taking control of my choices and push it away.  It’s nearly a mental chess game for all of us. We do this and that, than our body says “no” by being sore or sick. We all want to accomplish great things from this. But for all of us, we encounter something that we must deal with and overcome the entire time we are in pursuit of our goals. For me it’s my procrastination. I love to sit around and just relax with the TV on. But that isn’t mastery, I might need to relax in the future after I’ve done my training and completed my numbers. That’s when I can relax. And I fail to recognize how critical that choice is, train and improve myself or relax and be comfortable? I’ve got a ways to go, I’ll get there though.  Numbers: ...

Worth

For the entirety of May I was on a dark underground journey with myself. I analyzed everything about myself, where I am, and what I want to become. It got dark. Not going to get into specifics but it was a lot of talk with myself in a mirror or my car or to myself throughout the day. To keep it appropriate I kept telling myself “you need to win Owen. Because you have no other choice.” I feel we all have taken ourselves to this level before. It definitely made me more aware of the consequences when I don’t do something I need to do. I am comfortable where I am right now, but comfort kills progression. And without progression, we don’t get better.  Numbers: P/U: 13765 S/U: 12047 Forms: 125/113 Sparring: 16 AoK: 268 Mileage: 378.93km

Packing Up

It has been none stop at the house to get everything ready before we move. We’ve done countless trips out to the storage unit and to my grandpas to store some of our equipment. I’m not a great people person when I comes to living close to one another. I just feel like I have no personal space and that everyone can hear you even when your inside your house. And with us moving into town I’m worried about crime. So I’ll be taking some extra steps to make sure my belongings aren’t in my car as much as they used to be. I haven’t gotten a lot done with my numbers but I’m still getting some done every day.  Numbers  P/U: 12548 S/U: 10580 Forms: 108/102 Sparring: 8 AoK: 237 Mileage: 302.56km

Big Changes on The Way

My parents house has been on the market for 3 years now. And it finally sold as we finalized the sale today. I grew up in this house my entire life. And now we will be moving to spruce grove, into a house with no front yard, or backyard. I’ve never been one for living in town because of the lack of privacy. So within the next month we will be moved out and moved into our new house we recently purchased after this sale finished. May and June are going to be a little crazy for me. I’ve never moved before, except for into a dorm room in university.  I will be close to everything. The Kwoon is only 8 minutes from the new house and my gym is even closer now. And since I will be in town I can ride my bike around town and add to my numbers. I am also looking at purchasing an electric scooter to make it easier to commute around town after work and keep the kilometers down on my car. I’ll also be riding distance from my office which will make it easier for me to meet with couple and  f...

Sil Lum

The Sil Lum seminar has me being more aware about my imbalances. Especially in my legs as I can’t do the exercises at equal difficulty when isolating one or the other. It’s not a huge imbalance, my estimate is a 3-5% difference from my right leg to my left leg (dominant leg). Flexibility is the same however. But I can definitely tell me left leg is doing more work during the squats and leg exercises when both legs are sure together. This could sound normal since I am left side dominant and it might not be a strength issue, but a mind muscle activation issue and can be remedied with muscle isolation exercises.  Numbers P/U: 9967 S/U: 8635 Forms: 75/79 Sparring: 8 AoK: 189 Mileage: 243.4km
